Olson-Gilmore Wedding

Miss Norma Olson, daughter of Andy Olson of Bottineau, became the bride of James Douglas Gilmore, MOMM 2-c USNR, son of Mrs. Ruth Cossette (and Homer Gilmore) of this city, on June 13th, 1945. They were united in marriage by Rev. Anderson in the Bethesda Lutheran church at Minot. The bride wore an American Beauty wool suit with white accessories and carried a corsage of white and lavender sweet peas. The young couple were attended By the groom's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. Ernest Lamoureux of Newburg.
MOMM 2-c James Gilmore left Tuesday from Minot to report for duty after spending the past while visiting with his mother and other
Relatives and friends. Mrs. James Gilmore accompanied him as far as Minneapolis, where James is to wait for further assignment. James has been in the south pacific for the past four years. He was in the invasion of Guadalcanal and at the Philippine Invasions. James has six battle stars. Ernest Lamoureux of Newburg took them to Minot.

Mr. and Mrs. George Gilmore observed their 55th wedding anniversary at Upham Sunday where their son, C. E. Gilmore and daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Huff were at the event that took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wik, Parents of Mrs. C. E. Gilmore. Mrs. Doran Albin and children, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gilmore and Harold Gilmore, all from Berthold, were present. A son, Homer of Huntington Beach, Calif. was the only one not able to attend.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilmore were married in Indiana Nov. 11, 1893 and came to North Dakota in 1900, working near Grandin for 2 years. In 1902, they homesteaded west of Maxbass, later moving to Lansford and then to the Hartland vicinity, where they farmed until 1945, at which time they bought a residence in Berthold.
Their golden wedding was celebrated at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Doran Albin when gold watches and gold rings were presented to them by the children and a purse of money from other guests.
At the gathering Sunday the honor pair were presented with a round trip to California this winter to visit son Homer.
