GeorgeGilmoreLauraHuberGeorge Elsworth GILMORE was born 14 Jun 1872 in Butler Co., KS. His father was Alexander GILMORE, born in OH in 1841 and his mother was Sarah REDDING, born 1846 in OH. George married Laura HUBER 11 Nov 1893 in Berne, IN; they were married 57 years. George was a farmer and farmed the land of IN, then KS, then IN again. The GILMORE's raised six children: Homer, Harley, Bill, Sylvia, Charles and Iva. Laura passed before George on 26 June 1950. George passed 25 July 1954. Both are buried in Ward Co., ND.

Almost 100 years ago, in 1899, George and Laura took up a homestead in the Minot area of ND. Most of the GILMORE family have stayed in Ward County and are still there today. George's son, Bill and his wife Florence celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in October of 1997 and had a big celebration there, in Minot. I would love to hear from anyone with information on this GILMORE family or the places they have traveled.

Homer Huber GILMORE was my grandfather and was married to Suzanne Margaret MARX on 30 Oct 1923 in Watertown, SD. Homer was born on 22 Feb 1895 Berne, IN and Suzanne, 1 Jan 1905, Kranzburg, SD. Homer was many things in his lifetime, but mostly, he was a carpenter. When he and Suzanne finally got settled in Huntington Beach, CA, around 1940 or so, he worked all over town building houses, the church downtown on 12th street, even the ammunition bunkers in Seal Beach, CA. . He and my father built our family home on Park Street where my parents raised all ten of their children. Homer was a musician, playing many instruments, the one I remember, a fiddle. Homer and Suzanne had only one child, Audrey. They were married for 40 years before Homer passed in 1963.

AudreGilmoreAudrey Mae GILMORE GOETSCH is my Mom. She was born to Homer and Suzanne GILMORE in Phoenix, AZ in 1932. When she was only three months of age, They moved back to the Minot area of ND to escape the scortching heat of the AZ desert. Audrey traveled with her parents through the western states including, WA, OR, and finally, CA. She attended Huntington Beach High School, graduating in 1949. After High School she worked for the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce, planning their social events. She married my father, Elmer GOETSCH on 15 April 1950 in a traditional Catholic Wedding at the S.S. Simon and Jude Church downtown. Audrey and Elmer had 10 children: Cheryl, Jerry, David, Heidi, Christine, Chad, Susan, Todd, J.D., and Gail. Audrey retired to the hills of the Central Coast Wine Country where she enjoyed daily visits with her children and grandchildren. On 25 March 1999 Mom graduated on to her next journey. Her final resting place is the Pacific Ocean at Leffingwell Landing, Cambria, CA. Though Mom is gone, her spirit was so strong it will always be with us; it certainly will never die.
